At some point in our lives, we need to realize that we need to stop living sinfully and put our sinful hearts to death. We need to realize that we need to live a new kind of life, a life that follows God’s ways through Jesus Christ. Baptism is a great and powerful step in this direction. It’s really one of the first steps in this direction. We shouldn’t wait until we are “good enough” as baptism represents the beginning of this new life. This comes through the symbolism of joining with Jesus Christ through being immersed in water (symbolizing death and burial) and then coming up out of the water (symbolizing resurrection to a new life). If you are a believer in Jesus Christ as forgiver of your sins and leader of your life, especially a new believer, consider obeying the Bible and church tradition and receiving baptism.

After salvation, we are meant to belong. We are saved as individuals, but called to grow as disciples of Jesus in a community called the Church. It is usually the next step after baptism. Our faith may be a personal thing, but it is never to be an individualistic thing as Christians need other Christians to grow. It’s not always easy, but it’s necessary as we’re not meant to be followers of Jesus on our own. Much of this belonging happens in what is called the local church. Being a member of Bramalea Baptist Church means that you enter into a relationship and partnership with others to be a community where we all learn and grow, be accepted and accept others, be encouraged and corrected, help and be helped – a community of love and life in Jesus. Membership has its privileges – and benefits.
